Thanks to my second brain, aka Google Calendar, I just got a reminder that I have a class tomorrow from 1-3PM.
When the Battleship Texas Meetup got postponed last weekend, I didn’t check my calendar before I accepted the update. The meetup starts at 11AM tomorrow and I don’t want to pay money to enter the park only to have to rush through so I can get back to Houston by 1PM so I dropped out. I have to admit I was concerned about 49 photographers and their tripods in confined spaces on the ship and what that might mean when competing for and composing images. I’ll keep this location in my pocket for later in the year when I can spend more time there and be able to get over to the monument too.
The class tomorrow is another offering from HCP called Documentary Photography with Ben DeSoto. I am looking forward to this class and learning more about documentary photography. I really enjoy the opportunity to learn from and gain insights from accomplished photography amateurs, artists, and professionals. DeSoto has worked with the Houston Chronicle, several Houston museums, the Houston Area Urban League, and has work in a permanent collection at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. He created the Understanding Poverty Project that has researched and surveyed homelessness and poverty in Houston for almost 30 years.
So the plan now for Saturday is to get downtown around 9AM and work on my architecture shoot. I don’t want to start out on an empty stomach, so I’ll need to stop by Villa Arcos for a “Chorizo Super” breakfast taco. How convenient is that? Since I will be in the Montrose area in the afternoon after the HCP class, I can spend time there for some architectural elements to contrast the ones from the morning in downtown.
Sunday, I need to spend some time on post processing more of my vacation images as well as pick my five images from my architecture shoot for my Words & Images class. I had planned on giving Mpix a shot at printing those five images but it looks like since I need the prints by Wednesday it may require a Walgreen’s run.
Looks to be a busy and fun weekend.
