March Photo Projects

February turned out to be a good month for me and photography considering the rain and the cold (relative for Houston). I accomplished 6 photo opportunities and had a lot of fun doing them. It allowed me to get caught up with my 52 photo walks in a year project (but not necessarily post processing and posting them to the galleries). Granted, I am using the term photo walk loosely as seemingly anytime I take my camera out with me, but I am trying not to burn out or “cheat” too badly.

The two February shoots I learned the most from were the “Zen” photo walk/Finding the Image workshop and the Houston skyline at sunset.

The Finding the Image workshop gave me some great insights into photojournalism and exploratory photography. It also provided the chance to use monochrome digital and black and white film for the February black and white theme for Assignment Houston. I did cheat some and let Wolf scan my negatives, but I ran short of time at the end of the month.

The Houston skyline at sunset was a happy accident and gave me a chance to practice with the tripod and using longer exposures. I actually enjoyed the tripod and plan on using it more often.

So far I have a few things planned for March.

Assignment Houston’s theme for March is Parks and that along with the pleasant spring weather we usually have should help me round out the rest of the month.
