Houston Skyline at Sunset – Set 2

Slideshow: Houston Skyline at Sunset

Tonight was another really nice sunset over downtown Houston. There was less wind out tonight and I had a shutter release cable to help minimize shake even more. I am much happier with this set for a number of reasons. One, the clouds and sun were much more interesting. Two, I was in a mellower state of mind tonight. And three, I just felt more confident with my setup and settings tonight than last week. My tripod seemed happier and I could become addicted to the shutter release cable.

I had the ISO set at 200 for most of the early shots, but when I could tell the stadium lights were starting to bleed over, I set the ISO to 100. I did not have the long exposure noise compensation setting on in camera. I forgot about it – need to try it out on a future set. I especially like the monochrome – BW image.

  1. Thanks Michael. This view of the skyline (the east facing side) isn’t photographed as much as the more recognized north and west facing sides. But the east end is changing – more development going on – new houses replacing the old in the lower fifth and second wards. Thansk again for stopping by my blog. -Mike
