Slideshow: Houston Skyline at Sunset
Tonight was another really nice sunset over downtown Houston. There was less wind out tonight and I had a shutter release cable to help minimize shake even more. I am much happier with this set for a number of reasons. One, the clouds and sun were much more interesting. Two, I was in a mellower state of mind tonight. And three, I just felt more confident with my setup and settings tonight than last week. My tripod seemed happier and I could become addicted to the shutter release cable.
I had the ISO set at 200 for most of the early shots, but when I could tell the stadium lights were starting to bleed over, I set the ISO to 100. I did not have the long exposure noise compensation setting on in camera. I forgot about it – need to try it out on a future set. I especially like the monochrome – BW image.
Watch the Houston Skyline at Sunset slideshow for the whole sunset or visit the Houston Skyline at Sunset gallery for individual images.

Very pretty. I miss living in Houston. IMHO, Houston’s skyline is just plain pretty.
Thanks Michael. This view of the skyline (the east facing side) isn’t photographed as much as the more recognized north and west facing sides. But the east end is changing – more development going on – new houses replacing the old in the lower fifth and second wards. Thansk again for stopping by my blog. -Mike
