June starts the hottest part of the year in SE Texas. From now until late September the heat and humidity will make mid-day outdoor activities unpleasant unless you like it really hot. I admit I tolerate our summers because I love our mild fall, winter, and spring. I didn’t realize how the weather would impact me in keeping up with my photo goals for this year. I did not keep up with my goals for May and I am trying despite the heat to get caught up and stay on track in June. I don’t plan on taking any photo classes or workshops this summer unless something really interesting comes up. I need to spend more time out taking pictures. The same with all the books I have – I’ve reached a saturation point and need some time for some of all I’ve read to sink in and assimilate it into some practical techniques. I am sure I will read some, I just don’t plan on trying to cover so much in susch a short time.
That being said, I did get out to the Brazos Bend State Park – Bird Photography Photowalk and had a great time and learned quite a few things. The GHPA walking tour of the historic downtown waterfront was canceled and I didn’t get to the other destinations I had planned.
I did make another trip to Brazos Bend State Park and walked the Pilant Slough Trail and made a “Hail Mary Pass” at Galveston for the AssignmentHouston theme for May.
.
At Assignment: Houston, the theme for June is Houston’s Southwest Suburbs. I have to admit this isn’t a theme I look forward to, but will make an effort to take part and make the best of it.
I need to work on some motion capture shots and techniques and I hope that the Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark will provide some good opportunities. I also plan over the next several months to get out to each of The Trails of Brazos Bend State Park.

The hot months are a good time to work on night photography.
So true. I have two new east end spots I want to try out for night-time skyline shots – if I don’t get mugged or run off by KBR security – or both
